Lesson 12 Help is here - stand on the shoulders of giants (Stop Being Brainwashed)
Section 2 opens with texts that should be read by students of all ages
Dear reader, since we have covered much ground in Section 1 (Two Fundamentals: Understanding Ourselves and the World), let us recap a the key points, before moving on to Section 2 (Advancing the two fundamentals).
Stop Being Brainwashed - Lessons for understanding ourselves and the world is available on Amazon.
Lesson Zero: We all live in a personal dream
We all live in a personal dream, a controlled hallucination shaped by the stories our brains tell us about what we see and hear.
Our minds seek out patterns. Past experiences and imagined futures fill in the blanks.
Lesson One: Be simple
Happiness derives from gratitude and the absence of desire.
Lesson Two: Be the empty space
What is your breath doing right now?
Lesson Three: Your mind is a chemical factory
Our bodies generate five different chemical compounds we should all understand: endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and cortisol.
Lesson Four: Be wholly present – only now is real
Because the past can’t be changed, and the future has not happened yet, only now is real.
Lesson Five: Universal laws guide you to be your best
Universal laws are intuitive to animals and humans, alike.
Lesson Six: We all live inside someone else’s dream
We were born into a brainwashing factory.
Once you recognise the problem, you can work on a solution.
Lesson Seven: Brainwashing starts early
Brainwashing begins at childhood and continues through adulthood, until you stop it.
Lesson Eight: They use your mind against you, and the road runs both ways
Understanding cognitive biases unlocks the cage. Mastering them unleashes your power.
Lesson Nine: The hamster wheel of work and debt
Debt, interest rates, and work trap us on a hamster wheel: no matter how fast you run, you are always standing still.
Lesson Ten: Centralisation is bad for your health
Centralisation consolidates power and corrupts those who wield it.
Lesson Eleven: Society is being subverted by those who crave power
Attacks on faith, family, and critical thought are deliberate.
What follows is the beginning of Section 2, Advancing the Two Fundamentals.
Lesson 12, Help is here – stand on the shoulders of giants, points to written works that can help students of every age to better understand themselves, and the world around them.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Relax your body.
Centre your mind.
Let us begin.
SECTION 2
Advancing the two fundamentals
“There can be no liberty for a community which lacks the means by which to detect lies.”
- Walter Lippmann
Lesson 12
Help is here - stand on the shoulders of giants
Now that we have outlined the basic structures of the economic slavery into which we are all born, it is time to get tactical. What tools and resources can you use to navigate the modern world? What knowledge will be essential to developing your skills?
Starting with the latter question, there are several books - that are available for free as audiobooks – which should form part of every human’s curriculum. The table below shows a few books that are required for understanding ourselves and the world. This list of sources is not exhaustive and should be refreshed over time, as new philosophers, military leaders, and others discover new ways of surviving in the modern world. One day, I hope to see your name among them.
